[Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Avatar Creator.]

If you haven’t checked it out, go check out the Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Avatar creator. I was hired earlier this year to do all the component illustrations (eyes, clothes, ears, mouths, etc.) It was a ridiculous undertaking but it turned out pretty cool.

Every year, KMC Wheels puts together a look book for its “Rockstar” wheel. This year they decided to do an artist’s series and I was asked to be a part of it. Each artist was given a 22″ matte black wheel to work with and told to do whatever they’d like to as long as the KMC logo and signature center cap where left in place.

I decided to go with a tonal woodgrain effect to take advantage of the clean, matte black. It was a very tedious process involving a lot of masking and clear acrylic. I took a few photos throughout the process. Check them out after the jump.
